Newenglandah: Do you suppose Warbucks ever adopted her?
Depending on what age she was orphaned, she may not even know her last name.
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “Fannie” in any case.
Sandy needs to take a bite outa crime, ala the Blue Circle boys. Sick ‘em! By the way, years ago “Annie’s” first name was “Little”, middle name “Orphan” and last name “Annie.” Or at least that’s the way it looked in the funny papers.
But, Annie was never called “Little” nor “Little Orphan” by anyone in THE Little Orphan Annie comic strip.
Annie doesn’t seem to be adopted because she never goes to school and is often seen without an adult guardian.
Some internet sources say that Annie was never adopted and the information about her family history was destroyed.
By the way, the original strip had a boy as the title character and he was called “Little Orphan Otto.” The creator of the original strip was told by his boss in so many words that Otto looked like a girl and to put a skirt on it.
Loved as an American icon and respected as an adventurer, Annie’s voyages pit her against some of the comics pages’ most notorious criminals. Annie’s tireless pursuit of justice has reinvigorated this classic strip, giving it more action, intrigue and curls than ever before.
Read Ted Slampyak's weekly adventure strip Jazz Age.

Perhaps her real name is Lil, and Orphanannie is her last name.
