ineffablejoy, he is vastly outnumbered. Sooner or later an alarm will sound because the other jailer didn’t come back. He’s got to reduce the odds while he can, and give himself the best possible chance. These people are torturing him to death. It’s life and death here.
(And, as I keep reminding people, it’s FICTION. No humans were injured in the making of this strip.)

No one needs you to point out the obvious (somewhat hypocritically I may add!)

Ollie is a murderer, plain and simple.
He’s the scum of the Earth.

Why would you keep reading a strip you so obviously despise? Why give up the minute or more each day reading and commenting on this strip whose characters and creators you so obviously disrespect? The fact that you place so little value upon your time, helps me determine how much value to give your opinions in regard to this comic strip. In the future I will ignore your postings, just as you would be better off ignoring this strip. Goodbye.

Ollie’s doing pretty well for someone who’s been portrayed as having one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Must be the adrenaline.

VillemezBrown,
My dad used to say as soon as the other guy starts name-calling and ad-hominem attacks, you know you’ve won.
Take a victory lap! ;-)

The guard is singing?
Ollie might be a murderer, but he’s murdering bad people. So, it’s kinda OK. Better he murder them, then they murder innocents.

After getting into it with some jerks over at “Dick Tracy”, I had planned to say as little as possible. After all I don’t come here to fight, but to enjoy my favorite comic strips. But to call Daddy Warbucks or anyone else a “murderer” when they are trying to escape from some evil people who are torturing and starving them is really, really dumb! Of course I’m against violence and I’m a Christian and believe in Christian love and forgivness. But sometimes there are certain curcumstances where you have no choice but to do what you have to do in order to survive. I think in cases such as this God would understand, didn’t He forgive Moses for killing a slave driver who was beating a slave to death? Mr. Warbucks may be rich and powerful, but he has always been the good guy. Is he realistic? I don’t know. But in this case he’s only doing what most people would do.

He’s killing when he doesn’t have to kill. He could knock them out, drag tem to his cell, and lock them in, bound and gagged by their own clothes. Nobody would find them, and no alarms would be raised like when finding dead guards.
Of course nobody would mind him doing it, it does fall under self defense, but he has other options. A she makes his great escape, the killings will become the only option.
