Andy’s got to be in his eighties in real time but probably only in his fifties or late forties in comic strip time…
Remember, he served as a sapper in WWII.

Andy’s a Pensioner. He has a pensiont for alcohol, that’s what. When He’s not served, He gets real pensionate about that. And how much swilling before passing-out; that’s a topic of suspension.

Elections are a joke within themselves.

I’m listening to Big Joe Turner’s rendition of “Cherry Red” from his 1938 The Boss of the Blues album.
Now that’d be right up Andy’s alley.
You, on the other hand, strike me as a Jonny Lang, kinda, blues man.

Had to look him up. I turned 23 the year He was born. I think i’m more of a Leadbelly [sic], Elmore/Skip James Blues Guy myself, not so much the R&B or early R&R..

Kind of depressing … when I go to the movies … thinking how close I am to qualifying for senior rates…
Or … maybe I should be happy that I’m still around to almost qualify for senior rates…

I never get depressed at receiving senior discounts. I get depressed if I do not.

If this was a Sunday strip, Flo and Rube would be approaching from a distance in the first panel, Flo would exclaim “Turned away?” in the 3rd panel, she’d deliver the punchline in the 4th panel and in the 6th they’d walk off into the distance chuckling…
…but then again I could be wrong…

@Number Six
It always felt that “Open All Hours” way derived from a comic strip. Don’t know if you ever watched it.
