Oh Gawd, its already started…I had to do it…just had to! So Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney are on the stereo singing Silver Bells, and Gene Autry and his Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, followed by my personal favorite, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer ( I wonder if I should rethink that this year? I sure dont want run over!) Johnny Mathis doing Winter Wonderland always makes me happy for some reason and Buck Owens doing Santa Looks a Lot Like Daddy always makes me giggle the first dozen times or so. I love Christmas and I didnt start celebrating it until after I was married. And in Minnesota its truly wonderful how folks get into the season. I got up from a nap yesterday after our community Thanksgiving dinner, and it was dusk, so I turned on the 63 ft (Dave told me thats what his crane said it was) pine’s multi-colored lights and leashed up George (the Basset) and Terry (short for Terrorist – a Terrior) to take them out for a walk and to look at the tree. It has snowed while I was napping and there was a blanket of white on everything. Everyone on our street must have had the same idea because lights went on up and down the street and a lot of us came out for a walk and to look at the beauty of the lights and their reflection on the new snow. We visited and smiled and just kept looking around us at all the lights and decorations. A couple of teen age girls started singing Jingle Bells and most of us joined in. My neighbor and friend Ruth, brought out a huge carafe of hot spiced apple cider and a bunch of mugs and we drank it and visited and then by some mutual unspoken agreement, we all sang Silent Night, smiled and hugged some more, and said good evening. As I walked home, one of the teen age girls came up next to me on her way home as well, and said to me, “This was wonderful. I will remember tonight all of my life.” I couldnt help it, I cried a tear or two and hugged her. She is right, she will. And so will I.
I hope your holiday was blessed and that the one coming will be wondrously full of the joy of the season!Fully Formed Friday Hugs ((((((( CAPPERS ! )))))))
