Now there’s an existential concept. Comic strips characters discussing the reality of cartoon characters.

Not real? Oh come on! Next you’ll be telling me the Roadrunner isn’t real!

Obviously they’re not drinking tequila.
Enough of shots o’ Cuervo and you think YOU can fall off a cliff, get hit by boulders and walk away clean.

Imagine Andy being the one to teach reality.

I used to watch Bugs Bunny and many other characters such as Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner, Mr. Fudd, Sam, Taz on the TV when I was kid. Nowadays, I noticed these cartoon characters were not on the TV anymore. I had enjoyed watching them on the TV so I could remember them as a treasure.

Wildmustang…me too, the cartoons today, naturally, aren’t the same. Computers took over the art, too much detail, and more tech, science fiction oriented stories.
No just plain silly fun!! I loved the simple situations and the slapstick schtick!!

No, according to a friend of mine in the know, the reason you don’t see Looney Toons on tv anymore, ( or Woody Woodpecker or Popeye, ) is coz a gang of suits bought up all the rights and then jacked the price up through the stratosphere. That’s why you can’t watch WB cartoons for free any more. You can however find them on DVD…if yer willing to shell out 40 bucks a disk.

The saddest music I ever heard as a kid was the closing theme of the “bugs bunny - road runner hour”. Man, I loved watching that!

char32, I disagree with your statement that todays cartoons have more detail, the artwork today is crummy! In fact it isn’t even art. The old cartoons were drawn magnificently! So much detail you could see the cracks in the floor!

We still get to see the old cartoons here. On ToonW.

You can download a lot of those old cartoons from some of the better bit torrent sites.

Drystyha…’too detailed’ meant that, to me, computer generated animation seems to go for high visual impact instead of content.
