    Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 21 “Dead To Rites” (107) 6/4/2014 Wednesday

    Those cyber bikes or pods have independent operated wheels. An early variation of the “smart wheel” that have just become used in the market place with the ultra glide trucks.* They have a means of following any movement you want to go. But it takes training since this isn’t your normal motorcycle! Called “the Rumbler” it is fast, slick, yet tough and reliable on the road and off. Armed with a variety of devices both harmful and not. The two DOD soldiers spent hundreds of hours both in simulation first, then on the road. (Alley and Ooola want to put on the cyber helmets and start them up at once!!!)

    Back at the Wanderer
    Both Alley and Ooola have two of the Rumblers on the ground. They don’t need kickstands to remain vertical.
    “Well Ooola, this is it. Once spanking new bike I’d like to take back to Moo.” Alley said patting the long integrated saddle.
    Ooola was putting on one of the helmets they found packed with them. It fits over her head and luxurious hair. Now Alley might have some trouble. His squarish head is big. He tries several times then plans on tossing the helmet till Ooola tells him, “the helmet is the way you start and use the bike.”
    Then he notices as means of adjusting its size and sets it all the way out. Then he can set it on his head then Ooola touches the side and it locks in place around his head, fitting to its contours and the chin lock and HUD slides into place. He cannot see without it. But he can see so much more when he fiddles with it with his eyes.
    “Wooohoooo!” He let out.
    “Come on Alley, we’re burning…darkness, so come on!”
    They rev up and take off in a roar onto the road in the same direction the terrorists, Green Hornet, and the their two DOD troopers on two more Rumblers.

    • See Batman’s super bike, Bat-Pod, in “The Dark Knight” was a one-of-a-kind design half from spare parts, half from specially machined parts. it was adapted,as the famous Tumbler was, to military missions both over seas and at home by 2020. (Got a great deal of use during the 2016 crash in a few places like Chicago and Detroit [OCP] from the violence with DARPA’s help.)

    Welcome one and all!

    Hope Alley realizes what he said if he hopes for any understanding between them.

    Only way is to read it on Sunday’s only.

    Of course then, sometimes there may be subtle or more differences in a couple of the Sunday panels from the week ones, like slightly different dialog or perhaps a different panel completely.

    If he ever does, won’t Dinny become jealous of it? ;-)

    Alley is completely dense and does not even hear the words when he says them…

    @JPuzzleWhiz

    It should have read “One spanking new bike I’d like to take back to Moo.”

    Yes Dinny would be jealous.

    @Charles Smith

    They just like the old quality, missing since the Benders took over. Just like with Dick Tracy up until 2011 when it got really good again. They are not being trolls. They just want their strip back to the way it was.

    The nine year old in me loves the strip !
    The present me, not so much but will bear it and enjoy the talk and the fan fic piece all the same.

    methinks that what alley said works both ways. it was ooola who stalked off in anger, cutting off any chance for further conversation. after all this time she should know the type of guy oop is. under carole’s portrayal they are both immature and sophomoric, as is this entire sequence.
    relationship advice from carole? please, that’s madness!

    time to move on to a new adventure…with the emphasis on adventure, not talking heads and floating creepy leaves.
