So the monstrous creature in the novel is based on Alley’s ego?

    Morning, Oopsters.
He’s just digging himself deeper and deeper.

Well, if Ooola had offered a simple thank you for Oop rescuing her, instead of jumping all over his case, maybe he wouldn’t feel the need to build himself up.

She’s the one who made it a contest!

    Ha!
But if Alley had thanked Ooola for his rescue (even as precarious as it was), they would not have this argument.
    .
Meh. They would probably had a different argument. The Bender’s don’t seem to want to get Alley and Ooola together, romantically.

I thought that Alley and Ooola have always been a couple.

Good Morning Benders and readers of Alley Oop. Alley in answer to Ooola says ‘it appears so’. I’ve said it before but
Alley, since he hasn’t read the book, is still relying on the
limited summary reviews of the book by Doc and Foozy.
His pride will be stepped on soon.
Thought – In the lyric of the song Cold Irons Bound by
Bob Dylan is the phrase “The walls of pride are high and
wide Can’t see over to the other side” – That is where Alley is at.

IMHO, you’ve nailed it. Oop won’t be too flattered by the comparison to the monster. He might also be a bit embarrassed to discover that the monster has more of a sensitive side than he’s showing now.

Run for your life Foz! Oop still isn’t forgiven for running off with the boys instead of picnicking w/ the girl.

Don’t recall him acting like this. He was always a caveman type, ready to fight, etc. Now he seems to be just a comical chump.
