Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 20 “The Coup in Moo Falls Mainly on Oop”(45) 9/28/2013 Friday

Dinny was a good dinosaur, most of the time, and Alley’s closeness kept him in line even with that musty stench of them all around. There are xooloo spiders everywhere, their brown bodies, evil eyes and raised crab claw arms making sure no one does something stupid like run.

Alley’s feeling stupid today, stupid and lucky. He does a quick scan to work out the best possible route before mounting Dinny and heading out away from Moo, the Arena of Death and the slave quarters. He cannot be delayed when he does this. Seconds may mean the difference between freedom and being swarmed by hideous monsters.

Can’t remember, but seems like Oop doesn’t have a portable time zapper handy at the moment. One Oop and some modern machinery could wipe out ‘hideous monsters’ !
    .
Strip Oop: Alley comes back, she sees him, faints, the boys come back to the present, she wakes up and thinks, Boy !  Wotta dream !…. and proceeds to write her story. We’ll still be here come Halloween however…

I wonder if this story wraps up on Halloween? And give Oop the credit for the story of “Frankenstein”?

Does the prof have a “flashy thing,” ala Men in Black, to give Mary amnesia about the encounter? Otherwise, rule one of traveling to the past has been broken. She’s seen the electronic device, she knows inventive people, etc.

Good Morning Benders, John Wooley, and readers of Alley Oop. So after scaring Mary Godwin with a inexplicable
demonic device (to her) , Doc tries to go with the ‘I am
sorry’ defense. It doesn’t work;. It didn’t work for a women I knew, years ago, who would say ‘Mea Culpa’ (Latin for I’m
to blame) whenever she was caught in a screwup. Once
again this is why Doc should not time travel, except to visit
people in Moo who know him.

doc is coming across as a blithering idiot in this arc

why would the hyper-emotional mary automatically assume that doc’s gadget “can’t be used for good”? i don’t get that: she’s a strong, intelligent woman, a writer – i would think she’d be more curious than frightened.

carole is not serving her characters and characterizations very well at all.

Mary seeing an electromagnetic device, May still be an inspiration… If Doc does not explain the operation of the device. Mary already knows about Electrical impulses. Remember the Gus were discussing Reanimating life via electricity, citing the work of galvani and others.
I see no rul broken as yet, but it is possible to break and violate the Prime Directive anytime a person travels to the past. Look what Dave Wowee has done for Doc’s lab.

My Alternate Oop did keep his. Yes eventually but it would be a terrible war and should the xooloo spiders reproduce it could get worse by the year. We would win but the cost would be terrible.

Alley and Dr. Wonmug hasn’t worked too well on a Temporal Prime Directive. Alley himself is an anomaly whatever time he goes to outside of his own.

“Whatever that thing is it can’t be used for good”? Judgemental much? Since it is a device you have never seen before how can you be sure that it can’t be used “for good?” And besides, it is not the tool that is good or evil, it is the tool user. A musket can provide an innocent family with food, or it can kill the same innocent family, all based on the intent of the person who uses it. The gun itself is neither good nor evil.
