    Good Morning, everyone.

    Well, Doc is getting ready, I guess.

    Sure hope Alley is up for Switzerland.

    Historical note: the Congress of Vienna of 1814-1815 (having concluded just a year before Year Without A Summer) presided over the aftermath of the French Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars, and the demise of the Holy Roman Empire. One result was that the Canton of Geneva (where Cologny is located) gained a few parishes from Savoy and France. If the name Charles Pictet de Rochemont (Geneva’s delegate to the Congress) appears in the story, watch out for French and/or Savoyard cloak-and-dagger sorts who aren’t too happy with the (ahem) “redistricting.”

    The CoV also established permanent Swiss neutrality.

    Speaking as one part-time kvetch, I really am looking forward to a good Frankenstein story, but I still don’t understand how a few environmental samples from 1816 Switzerland is going to help 21st Century scientists understand modern climate conditions.

    This appears to be an interesting opening to a new story, but the current daily Phantom is developing into the best comic story that I have ever read.

    “Air pushed capsules…”?
    “Sargent…”?
    Seriously, what is your native tongue?

    @davidf42

    …because you look for realism in a comic about a time-traveling caveman???

    Yep… Doc and Oop will be the basis of “The Modern Promethesus”
    As an alter ego of Dr, Frankenstein, I’d like to remind all that “Frankenstein” was the Creator of the Creature, not the created creature. If you have truly read the story, I’ll leave it up to you as to the identity of the monster.

    Your assumptions are totally incorrect. At least, you are consistent.

    Good Morning Benders and readers of Alley Oop. I guess we will get to see the Villa Diodati of Lord Byron in Cologne.
    Summer of 1816,. a nice place to have a summer vacation
    but in June 1816 no sun rainy cold gloomy and foggy. The
    poet Percy Shelley along with his wife, the writer Mary
    Shelley is visiting Lord Byron and will have a writers roundtable. Will be interesting to see what troubles Alley gets into to get muddied and mussed up to perhaps give
    inspriation to Mary Shelley as the monster in the book to written later named Frankenstein.

    Baslim—are you hidden in the pages of “A Thousand and One Nights”, or from the “Rubaiyat” of “Omar Khayyam”?

    @Colonel Claus

    I found Mary Shelley;s story boring, but loved the 1932 film version, plus the satirical and funny “The young Frankenstein”.
