Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 19 “The Savage Land of Promise”(50) 7/27/2013 Saturday

Alley is puzzled by this whole adventure. Why did he even come here? It makes no sense. He’ll have to defer till he gets out of here. Too many other pressing matters. Now where is that tube at again? He takes his communicator out and asks his escort to meet him at the tube. He better not make an error in this place or he could get lost. And they know this place better than he does.

Commander Til is beside himself, how did this happen? Walsh is going to have a cow over this. Drexler is yapping at him. He doesn’t know what that fool is saying and doesn’t care. “Get him out of my sight, keep him away!” He ordered as he worked to coordinate his forces. He had just been told that some of the gigantic “moon cows” (those millipede built yellow-green plant eaters Lola and Alley had for protection) herd is two miles away and coming in their general direction. He gave orders for the long range gunnery crews to open fire when they are within extreme range. Both Walsh and Trask are calling him for updates.

Running down the wide hall, carpeted, Alley sees the form of Snelling in the distance and approaches him at a dead run. “There you are! My time is up and I gotta go back! Thanks for all your help. Got lost you know!” He shouted and picked up Snelling in one arm and another one in his left as they headed back to that buried air tube between the colony and the US military base.

“Where can he go?” One of the soldiers asked Til.
“Could be anywhere in the complex….yeh, of course!” Com. Til says, “back to Section A!” He orders and they take off yet again."

Being a bit rushed Alley tried to be cordial with saluting and all but hurriedly got back into the pneumatic tube carrier. Fastened the hatch then he punched the button to get him moving. His tube leaves just as the first of Commander Til’s armored troopers make it there.
“Stop that tube in the name of the Law!”
“Too late,” Snelling told Commander Til, “it is on automatic. To interfere with it could damage the mechanism sir!”
“Not an emergency override.” He contradicts, pulling out an electro-key and fitted it to a slot on the master panel then turned it.

On Alley’s command board red lights flare up and an angry low buzzing belching out. “Uh Oh.” Is all Alley could say. The capsule shudders to a halt part way between.

You know if he’s so eager to get going, then why isn’t he making plans to go also? Mr. Nogood, is up to something NOGOOD. Doc had better be careful with this guy.

Does this “another one” have a name?

Unless Alley unburdened himself of his two full arms (which you didn’t indicate), wouldn’t saluting be difficult to do? I’m not trying to be a jerk, or anything, it’s just that I know you are capable of doing better than this.

Yes, I thought I wouldn’t have to explain every little detail. Allow the reader to just fill in the blanks. But I see your point.

Actually, its The Doctor. It is other people who add the Who.

Good morning Benders and all. The pace of this story is so exciting! Two weeks to talk about something that could have been done in a couple of days. Only Carole Bender could make Tom Batiuk look like a professional writer.

A great summer morning and the readers of Alley Oop.
I’m do hope Doc is going on the time trip even if he gets
Alley to help him. As I’ve said before it’s been a long time since Doc has been on a real time trip except to Moo.
Side note I do hope the negative commentators aren’t
going to start attacking other cartoon artists in this forum
    also. Thats real tacky.

Two weeks of two characters standing around talking with no background art. With conversation that makes Doc ‘One mug’ (play on Ein stein) sound like a gullible simpleton.
