Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 18 “The Everlasting Man-thing”(29) 4/11/2013 Thursday

    Panel One

The ape-like lizard shaped Baldander perks up as Corinne does her thing. It forms organs to detect more closely the energies she is channeling to perceive them more clearly. It feels a bit of fear, tenses briefly, then sets off through the low canopy away from them and their energy. It searches the Baldander out following it invisible to everything else!

    Panel Two

“Hay! Its that way.” She points as they look and see some rustle of the leaves and limbs then head out to follow it at a brisk run.

    Panel Three

Jinx and Corinne’s motion sensors give them a definite plot to follow. Alley sniffs deeply then runs after them scanning the canopy and where his big feet are stepping.

Guz musta caught the Wizer, or perhaps there is another story beginning.

@Night-Gaunt—-“Hay” (as in cow food)? Hey! It’s great to have you back, & I’m glad you put in the temporarily missing episode.

    The original text:
“The ape-like lizard shaped Baldander perks up as Corinne does her thing. It forms organs to detect more closely the energies she is channeling to perceive them more clearly. It feels a bit of fear, tenses briefly, then sets off through the low canopy away from them and their energy. It searches the Baldander out following it invisible to everything else!”

    The edited text:
Baldander, in ape/lizard form senses Corinne’s aura – senses the energy of the others as well. It forms organs to feel the energies clearly, then tenses warily and moves away.
    -
In turn, Corinne senses the Baldander, a presence so strong it blocks out all else.
    -
Night-Gaunt, I’ve been reading Alley Oop since the 60s. Don’t assume I know nothing of the old days.

Why do I get the feeling Alley’s going to turn soft, and go help Wizer?

Surely, nobody has any complaints about the art in panel one.

The art in panel one looks good.

However … one can’t help but wonder why Alley is suddenly in proportion to Dinny’s head today. Just go back and look at yesterday.

Yes, that was his first time travel. A great story. Had everyone looking for him, found an aviator stranded, helped him get the plane in the air by physically tearing out many trees to clear a runway and went many miles away from where they were looking for him, amongst many other adventures during that story arc. Back in April 1939.

The first panel does indeed have great artwork. If only the majority of the panels were like this, it would be great. Every now and then a few panels look like this, which many people suspect may be done by an illustrator in training to perhaps take over the strip in a few years.
