Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 18 “The Everlasting Man-thing”(10) 3/23/2013 Saturday

    Panel One

Everyone is comfortable in the wide seats, all the perks of the 21st century and the engines are revving up, the tail 4-bladed contra-rotor props are whining loud enough to be heard inside the fuselage. The pilot is telling them in accented English to be buckled in.

    Panel Two

Several thousand miles away, the “Roxton” is slowly moving above the ocean following as the silhouette of the creature X is on the scope and the net-cannon is readied.

    Panel Three

“We’re lucky, it isn’t too far down and not swimming fast.” Related Jinx watching it on the repeater screen in the cockpit to Corinne in the loading bay waiting to fire.

The fake enthusiasm is kind of annoying.

Come on people! This is what a dénouement looks like. It’s an essential part of this story arc. If you’re going to do nothing but criticize; at least learn something about dramatic structure. (And, yes, I’m aware that this is a comic strip, not fine literature.)

    .
Sounds like the “Roxton” hunter has the creature exactly where the creature wants them to be ?

At least Oop’s not gonna flap in the breeze on this one.

Yes, but we have been witnessing this dramatic, artistic dénouement for weeks now.
    .
Perhaps it might … one day … move to the next dramatic structure known as a plot?

There is a good reason why it isn’t under restraint when they go after it..

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s exciting addition to the conversation where we can see Wizer saying, “Well, uhh ….”, “You see, uh ..”, “Yes, but …”, “Uhhhh ….”, “I … uh ..”, “But …but …” once again. And maybe Monday he’ll add a “that is … you see …” to liven up the action a bit.

Perhaps Oop will have an adventure the adults can enjoy after satisfying the children with this one.

Meaning does a fire burn a house up or down?
