Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 18 “The Everlasting Man-thing”(6) 3/19/2013 Tuesday

    Panel One

In the air putting the jump-jet on automatic control, tied to the beacon attached to the ‘Monster X’ the two professional women study the reports. (A very long series dating back at least to Sumerian times.) They are headed for the equatorial Pacific. The creature has shown a propensity to migrate along the equator at least for now. Its behavior defies explanation since it is believed that 300 years ago it was traveling longitudinally along the magnetic field between poles. Though the creature can’t be killed it can be stunned for limited periods of time.

    Panel Two

The Challenger CK-6D6 is based upon the old Doak VZ-4DA but with extensive re-engineering and upgrades over the years. Better steering control, faster, more powerful duct-fan jet engines and tougher. The guidance slaved to the beacon is one of the later additions. (They don’t know why the design was never used.)

    Panel Three

No matter what kind of extinction event this creature can adapt to it almost instantly. When angered or frightened it can become truly horrible indeed. If left alone it is usually harmless. Hence the need to trank it first then load it in the hold and get to M-island.

¶The Doak Model 16 (also called the Doak VZ-4DA) was the first enclosed tilt-rotor aircraft, using ducted fans driven by a turbine in the fuselage. Its first flight was in 1958; in 1973 it was transferred to the U.S. Army Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis, Virginia. This aircraft was the only VZ-4DA built (serial #56-9642) 56-9642). It was 9.75m long with a 7.75m wingspan (including the fans).

For critters with little pea-brains, those dinos sure understand English!

I would say it is the gestures and voice that they understand.

The expressions on the dinos are great — the graphics makes the strip today.

In my not so humble opinion, the artwork looks especially childish today.

Good morning Benders and all. Alley shows how tough he is by shouting down the dinosaurs! The action of the last few days has been dizzying, almost too much to handle! I bet tomorrow Alley will really yell at the Wizer and maybe even at Guz. Could it get that exciting? We thought there was going to be an attack on Moo but, thanks to Alley’s strong lungs, the day has been saved. Has there ever been a greater action hero tha n this?

Good Morning Benders and readers of Alley Oop. I really like the artistry today in the strip today. The looks of fright as
the dinos run for their live away from the commanding presence and threat of Alley Oop. In Dino control, he truly rules where he stands. Great job Benders!

I could see myself reading this strip as a kid. Back then, Prince Valiant looked kind of ‘serious’ and so didn’t read it. I recently finished all 40 books of the Hal Foster years, loaned to me by an old comics fan/collector who personally takes Jack’s work as being “cartoony”.
