Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 17 “Deader Than Dead”(3) 2/3/2013

    Panel One

Lavainge was ready to get back to Op. Greenlight and Dr. wonmug. Had plenty of adventure in that haunted house, chasing resurrected zombie humans & dinosaurs and now meeting super intelligent cryptid dinosaurs on a parallel earth!

    Panel Two

Oscar has gone back to help the Sunshine special ops unit in its continuing hunt for Dr. Dark and to bring him to justice for what terrorism he has done all over the world. She agrees with Doc Wonmug that that it would be better for Oscar as a person.

    Panel Three

Unseen by Lavainge the SBE climbs out of her bag and flutters to another location within the massive mostly underground complex. It begins sending all of its stored data along the encrypted network back to Dr. Dark’s own super-hub for down load and analysis.

    Panel Four

Alley was very hungry then sleepy after eating enough for three men. His dreams were a tangle of trying to reach Lola who turned into Ooola, and creatures (some prehistoric, some living-dead, and others alien) trying to snatch them away then he sees a red eyed version of himself, hungry and dangerous dark mirror version. Menacing.
“I am here for you,” the horrible distortion tells him. He swears he could smell rotten blood on its hot breath. Then he awakens shuddering, grabbing his club but no one is there.

It better be. Let’s hope you turn out to be correct. Let’s compare notes next week to see how accurate you are.

OK, one stream of smoke is coming off the little cone, where is the rest of it coming from? Somewhere off frame to the right. Smoke machine from the special effects crew? lol

I wonder if the local church Pastor uses this technique to bring in the “flock”, ready to be “fleeced”?

Belated Groudhogs Day to the Benders and all (He says,
Early spring, we will see). The Wizer’s warped talents are
on display to Alley and Foozy. It is amazing that just that the
concentrated potion fumes, from the small incense burner
and Wizers wand, are being diffused across the entire field and affecting the dinos. Hmm Fumes attracting people —
It works for Rib Shacks and Pizza Parlors.

Isn’t Wizer breathing the stuff too. So many good tales left hanging and we have to go off on another tangent. I guess none of the characters care a toot what ever became of Lola.

Did you ever wonder how the Benders pick what to cut and paste each week? It’s a lot harder than it looks. This past week there were 10 new panels (wow, lots of work there) hard to pick just 5 but by doing that Jack only had to draw one new panel. So how diid they do it. Panels one and two from Thursday, panel one from Friday, and both panels from Saturday. Tuesday and Wednesday totally ignored. Whew, that must have taken all of ten minutes to decide. Might have missed part of a Big Bang rerun. Life can be tough for real-life cartoonists.

Let’s have a little fun with what has unfortunately become a really bad strip with Sunday being the most consistently disappointing aspect of this classic cavemen / time traveller adventure. Long gone are the halcyon days of Vince Hamlin and the steady competence of Dave Graue. This next week the Benders will produce 10-11 new panels and I’m guessing 11 since there was only one new panel today. Which panels do you think they will pick for next Sunday’s strip? Post your guesses on this site next Saturday and let’s see who can come the closest. Your chance to become an honorary Bender!

    Not critical, just an observation.
