    Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 16 “Earth 2 Crisis”(44) 1/13/2013

    Panel One

Alley moves to grab the creature to throw it off of her when she told him, “stop, its okay, no….harm done!” She gets out as the creature wiggles and squeals with delight.

    Panel Two

The creature was making melodious sounds almost like a bird and frog mixed together into an amazing harmony as the beast settled down a bit. Only it looked like neither bird nor frog.

    Panel Three

Oscar and Lola shouted to them that one of the long necked Others is lumbering their way in an amazing gliding kind of movement. It is smaller and of a reddish gray color.

I was hoping it would spread on the dino’s faces giving them a certain look of Wizer’s potion.

Amazing!! The plot actually advanced on a Sunday!
The T-Rex didn’t sneeze in the Saturday strip, remember.

Well, of course the Wizer hadn’t thrown the powder in it’s face Saturday.

Usually,, the last one or two images in the Sunday Strip comes from the next Monday strip.

So, nothing new. BUT, I am awaiting to be Tuesday (at most) to know what the dyno ‘have’…

Good Morning Benders and all. Wizer doesn’t say Bless you when a dinosaur sneezes. He really has no manners. The T-Rex is angry so wants to bit his head off, not eat him, as Wizer is old with not much meat on him.

The little black “thing” is this world’s version of “a free puppy!” So, is it FiFi? Rex? Slick?
Only it’s owner is coming to collect it, and then be amazed that these Earth2-ians can see them!

Sneezing is the body’s way of expelling something from your system, not absorbing it. This story remains really dub.

I did it. I’ve read through the complete backlog which starts with the end of Dave Graue’s reign. It was painful, which is why it took me so long. Don’t get me wrong – I love comic strips. I could easily read 10 years of On Stage, Mickey Mouse, Terry & the Pirates. Pogo, the Spirit, Captain Easy – no problem, because they are so fun to read. But here – bad story after bad story with art nearly as poor. Where you would hope to see development and improvement, there is none. Gaping holes in logic and continuity, unfinished story lines, characters not true to form, lack of humor and pacing, banal dialogue – sadly, it’s all there. Once one of the great comic strips is worse than banal under the control of the Benders. Very sad.

I did notice some changes during the Bender years. Everything suggests that they put less and less effort into the strip. The stories became longer but less involved. The characters’ dialogue shrank. The standard daily strip shrank from three to two panels per day. Jack added things like the so-called “creepy leaves” to fill background space. Characters more often spoke with their arms completely extended for no other reason than to “eat up” about 1/4 to 1/3 of a panel. The Sunday strip became just a cut-and-paste of the past weeks’ strips. Sequences were often dragged out infinitum. The Benders clearly are not up to the demands of producing an entertaining comic strip and should bow out as gracefully as possible.
