Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 15 “House of the Worm”(116) 11/26/2012
Panel One
“Is it going to fire?” Alley asks a bit of desperation in his deep voice.
Panel Two
“No, but there is another way we can solve this.” Dr. Tucker told them as the immensity of the ectoplasmic mass rises and spreads out, on the ecto-scopes it is shot through with sparkles and a glow with odd flying ecto-creatures buzzing around. Some of it had manifest solid in their sphere of existence.
Panel Three
They set the four segments of the PNE gun down, Alley accidentally hits the discharge button, the end cluster of emitters sparks then a short erratic pulse blasts the heaving ectoplasmic terror. It is shocked by it! (Also a pop happens and more smoke starts coming out of the gun at more points.)
Panel Four
Severely agitated the thing shoots up through the ancient mansion smashing wood and termite eaten debris as it blasts out of the roof, three stories up, scattering the moss covered shingles. Just in time for Chief Forest Inspector for the area the accidental cyborg Hank Kimball to drive up in his tricked out forest green HUMVEE. “Golly Gee look at that!” He exclaims to his pet pig who just squeals in surprise an fear.
Panel Five
The “worm” is changing itself some more as it prepares to strike like a gigantic cobra, the terminal end of the pseudopod is splitting into thinner tentacles surrounding a circular “mouth” to seize and engulf them.
This actually advances the story beyond the Sunday strip, which had only the fist panel. Usually we would have to wait for Tuesday (at least) for that second panel, with the solution to the problem posed in the first.
Another day with nothing happening. I used to think that the reason this strip has been so dumbed down was to attract children to read it. Now I don’t think so. Today’s children have such short attention spans, they wouldn’t bother reading a story that moves so slow.
Good moring Benders and all. Alley remembers to bring his axe but not his shoes? He did a pretty good job of dressing in the back seat of a moving car. What happened to Ooola?
i’m still trying to figure out why alley is blacked out in the first panel. and why the building needs a gazillion pillars. and where is ooola? still in a state of undress in the back seat? the answers are that it’s just the benders being the benders — insulting our intelligence at every turn.
Good Morning Benders and all. Except for possibly San Francisco, if you show up without shoes, you’ll probably be pulled aside and questioned. His bell bottomed pants are timeless. For decorum’s sake Ooola no doubt is still in the car changing. Alley probably just pulled the pants over his fur shorts. As usual there is a simple logic that the Benders used.
why the dig at sf? i’ve spent time there and have never seen anyone walking around without shoes. and i ask again — where is ooola? we should be able to see her in panel 2 unless she’s flat on the floor. it’s not simple logic from the benders — it’s simpleton logic.

In case anyone’s wondering, while there are newspapers that carry the Alley Oop daily strip, not many carry the Sunday strip as well. Hence the recap.
