Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 15 “House of the Worm”(114) 11/24/2012
Panel One
“Capacitors are charged, you can fire at any time.” Alley told them. He wants the PNE gun to blast whatever is down there before it swats them flat.
Panel Two
The others report in as the power is building to fire, coming out of the hole is something big and gelly-like and shot through its semi-opache body with that awful color. Weird and significant. Menacing to behold!
Panel Three
“Hurry, hurry, its coming!” Alley shouts to them as Drs. Tucker and Avril work over the controls. Is that smoke coming from the battery housing?

It will be interesting to see what the Benders have cooked up for the 12/21/2012 “threat.”

Hmmm, now Ava’s eyes look normal, as opposed to the pinholes they were yesterday. lol

Not sure what Oop and Ooola are telling Ava about the Mayans means that the prophecy is coming true. All that happened is that they went via time travel to that time that the stone calendar was being made, but the stone calandar is well known by Ava and others in the present.

Ally has already been to the future where he beat up folks and broke stuff.

We saw a TV special about the Mayan calendar a while back and one of the points which they brought up is that a fragment of the calendar is missing – so most people are just speculating about what type of information might have been contained on that missing fragment!

@Estrelita Phillips
I had read this somewhere, so I do not know the actual truth of it, but it does seem logical at least.
The Mayan calender does not allow for leap years, and as that calender is for some 5,000 years, and there is a leap year every four years, that would mean that the number of days the Mayan calender could be off because of this is 1/4 Th of 5,000, or some 1,250 days, or just about 4 years!
Personally, I think we are all going to wake up on December 22, 2012 and find that nothing has changed at all!!

I do not know how that date was computed. You have one argument, and here is a second one: do you remember the second part of the Gregorian calendar: christians skipped some days (up to two weeks,) centuries ago to ‘add’ these leap years days we missed since Julius Caesar previous calendar changes.
OK, I cannot believ in that, but it is always fun to follow a story ;-:)

There are a LOT of Mayan calendars. There are some that go up to past the year 4000. The whole thing was just cooked up for publicity. It’s about as meaningful as being excited because you bought a five year calendar and mine ends after one year.

The way I’ve heard it is akin to older cars when they reach 100,000 miles. The odometer returns to 00000.0 and starts over again!

Only a month until “the end”. Given the pacing of the Bender’s story, that should give Oop and Ava just enough time to get down the driveway before everything is destroyed, after repeating their current situation 10 times in pointless dialogue…

Actually, the current story arc, as silly as it is, is moving a bit faster than the last one.
