Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 15 “House of the Worm”(102) 11/12/2012
Panel One
The creature seems rooted to the spot, its braces keeping it standing as its arms flailed and smoke began to pour from its body then the very loud yowling started. A sound of sheer pain.
Panel Two
Watching the lighted controls Lavainge saw an over heat light, and one of the six batteries flicker as it is drained showing on the small console. “We can’t do much more, the whole system is threatening to melt down.” Lavainge tells Dr. Tucker as he continues to blast at the misshapen abomination.
Panel Three
“just a little longer…”He says through gritted teeth, he could hardly see, the flashing was so bright. The sharp smell of O3 or ozone began to permeate the dank air.
Panel Four
Alley had run back over to them, helping Dr. Tucker as the PNE gun bucked like a bronco as the humming of the human made lightning flashed out to the monster, its metal parts glowing from red to yellow and the body smoking with little flames beginning to appear over its dirty charring body.
Well, yeah..you just saw what happened, right, w/the time gap-and Mayan civilization They could lose their lives…and those of many in Moo. This has to be fixed. Lets get to the bottom of it. Is Oscar around?
I have faith that somehow Oop survives as long as Earth 1 does :).
Given the many new apocalypses that science has brought us all that might not be too long. What good to have brought cures for the plague and polio but also hydrogen bombs and germ warfare?
It’s like going out to the mailbox and finding 7 letters with wonderful news and one letter from the medical lab saying you have an incurable disease.
No wonder we have yet to receive messages from space. The way scientific knowledge is expanding, it probably will be Earth going off the air too sooner rather than later.
Okay, let me see if I understand this. Oop hasn’t heard from Doc Wonmug in a while, and he becomes worried that the entire earth has been destroyed in 2012. Does this make sense? It’s like assuming that a friend has died just because you haven’t heard from him in a while, but on a much larger scale. There could be any number of reasons why your friend hasn’t called lately. And in this story there could be any number of reasons to explain why Oop hasn’t heard from Wonmug without assuming a whole big disastrous apocalypse.
Actually, it was religion that brought us the Apocalypse! Why do I claim that? The original title of the story “Revelation” in the bible was "The Apocalypsis Ioannou " that is: “The Revelation of John”. If that story had been rejected and left out of the bible, as many at the time (mid to late fourth century CE) wanted, we would not even be discussing this silly idea!

Except that Oop has just come back from a visit to a society that has developed a complicated calendar that abruptly ends at 2012. Like many people today, Oop is the superstitious type. He sees the fact that the Mayan calendar ends at 2012 as an omen of disaster.
Good Morning Benders and all. It would appear Alley believes a catastrophic event has occurred in the future. It could even be a asteroid hitting the earth. If Dr Wonmug and others were wiped out, the time machine could keep working for a time. The late great Ray Bradbury wrote a post nuclear story on the population being wiped out and the computerized houses still turning on the lights at night.
Alternate Alley Oop, chapter 15 is the current chapter in an ongoing story line created by Night-Gaunt49 as an alternative to the drivel that the Benders insist on subjecting Alley Oop fans to.
Alley Oop is the classic caveman comic strip revolving around the irrepressible Alley Oop, who travels from prehistoric Moo all the way to the 21st century in his friend Doc Wonmug's time machine.
