    Nice story, Night-Gaunt! The Baroness is getting to be an interesting character.

    @Tundrasea (from yesterday) –
    I respect your opinion and your willingness to share, and I agree with you about the possibility of having too much background, and that sometimes it’s better to throw in a panel or two of talking heads to help the reader focus on a certain aspect of a conversation. But what many of us readers are dissatisfied with, in regard to the Bender’s performance, is that they have shown a tendency over the last several years to get by with less and less artwork and seem to be getting lazier and lazier. Today’s strip illustrates this point. Although there are three panels instead of the typical two, there is no background in any of them. Instead the Benders are back to using the “creepy leaves” for window dressing. That, plus the inconsistency in the characters, the unresolved loose ends, and the silly plot ideas, just show that it’s time for the Benders to retire and turn this strip over to some artist or artists who will give this great old strip the care and attention it deserves.

    My suggestion to all of you who are complaining about this strip. Just stop reading it. For God’s sake it’s only a comic strip. Get a life.

    Ooola’s rage is just a symptom of chococholism! She became so strung out during her stay in the Jaguar Pyramid that she is now exhibiting signs of withdrawal! Have a choco drink Oool babe and chill!

    @ blemley & Sneaky Bucher – I happen to be in full support of davidf42. He stated the case for us who complain clearly and politely. For the most part we are loyal readers who have followed this strip for many years. We have no intention of leaving. When the strip returns to its former quality we will cease to complain. We’re all aware that, “it is just a cartoon strip”. It happens to be one we are very fond of. You suggest we just leave if we don’t like it, well then why don’t you just skip the comments you don’t like.

    Good Morning Benders and all First off if Ooola had taken her own advice this last adventure would have never
    happened. Also Alley needs to learn some phrases to throw Ooola off when she is angry, like Your eyes are beautiful when you are angry. At least in Alley and Ooola’s ongoing
    relationship, they are thinking about each other now. That’s
    a positive.

    I already have a life and it’s really pretty good. But I love comics, especially the masters of the medium. I considerd Hamlin’s Alley Oop near the top. Maybe it wasn’t the beautifully rendered epic of Foster’s Prince Valiant. It didn’t have the excitement of Caniff’s Terry or was as well written as Crane’s Captain Easy. It didn’t have the satire and buffornery of Kelly’s Pogo and sure wasn’t as funny as Watterson’s Calvn. But it was pretty darn entertaining and professionally drawn. The current version of Oop has been an absolute mess for quite some time. I knew Alley Oop and this,sir, is not Alley Oop.

    And then there are those who piss and moan about those who have legitimate cocerns about the quality of the current version of the strip. Unable to defend the strip, they can only resort to complain about those who want to save an American institution.
