Will the game even end without Yochi’s father coming out and demanding to know what is going on?

Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 15 “House of the Worm”(52) 9/21/12

    Panel One

Dr. Tucker was confused by the images and their darkening into malevolent forms. He now knew it was views by his ancestor Dr. Rupert Drake when he went to the “Xom dimension” some time in the 1800’s and he was somehow reliving it then the dark ghostly force from the house intruded and took over making such a beautiful world into one of damage, disease and danger. His vision is blurry but clearing fast. He is laying on a low hill of moist sand with rank grasses and the shadow of something over him. He hears it speaking to him in guttural English from a non-human mouth filled with oversized fangs getting in the way. The being is Xil but the force of the house has mutated his memory into a horror that now threatens to kill Tucker’s own mind in his own body.

    Panel Two

“What do you think you are doing…Alley?” The Baroness asked in a deadly purr.
“I cannot stand by and do nothing, must be what is the word? Pro-active. You know it?”

    Panel Three

“Ja, I do. Do you know what to do?” She had a leer like smile.
“Yeh,” he said as he worked to remember what Dr. Avril did to get it working.

    Panel Four

The helmet is light, round hemisphere and most of it of some kind of metal embedded translucent plastic. On the inside of each crossing of the embedded wires a node he sees as a metal disc. It is some kind of contact interface. His knowledge in this area was exhausted at that.

    Panel Five

The Baron understood enough of what the machine did that it could possibly be his way of getting into Alley Oop’s body. He has none of the physical limitations of a corporeal body it just may work.(His one limitation is how he got back into the living world through a special summoning that locks him in this particular corporeal form, the summoner and the familial relation are the locks.) He can always use it to body jump again if it works for him. This device is rare enough to make that a near certainty. But he needs to learn more before using it. He will wait for now, till the time is right for him.

The story so far: The Incan ruler tells his son to find a wife. The kid could have his pick of the local maidens, but is not interested. Then a strange woman shows up out of nowhere and he decides to marry her, despite her protests. The strange woman’s boyfriend shows up, but now the bored kid has suddenly become so smitten with the strange woman that he proposes a life-or-death sporting event for the hand of a strange woman who doesn’t even like him. Alley accepts the challenge to play a strange game with many complex rules that he has never even heard of, let alone play before. Meanwhile the ruler is nowhere to be seen, and doesn’t stop by to ask why a strange woman from an unknown tribe should be the one to bear the heirs to his throne. The local shaman takes Oolah away with not a word of protest from Alley. The shaman gives Oolah some hot cocoa which she never seems to have tasted before despite numerous time travel episodes to the twentieth century. After a quick lesson (which doesn’t seem so quick after the Benders dragged it out) Alley is an expert at the game and is planning to win with what is, according to his teacher, a nearly impossible strategy. The shaman brings Oolah to the stadium where she does not even notice that Alley is wearing a rediculous costume for the game. The prince smugly goads Alley with no sign that his newly developed ardor for Oolah is abating. No sign of the ruler or what he thinks of all this.

Do I have that right so far?

Good Morning Benders and all. Yochi’s back and he is as sensitive as ever. As usual, Alley hasn’t been allowed to
meet or practice with the other players on his side. This is
assuming the game is not played one on one. The strip has been vague on this point.

I presume that Yochi will be sacrified if he loses??

You presume wrong. The only thing that has been established is that Alley Oop’s head is on the chopping block should he lose.
