Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 15 “House of the Worm”(51) 9/20/12
Panel One
“What are you up to Herr Oop?” the Baroness asked him in that Germanic burr of the Other in a suspicious tone.
Panel Two
Alley didn’t immediately answer her, he had more important things to do. He knows the Baroness is untrustworthy but Lavainge and Tucker will need his help if only….Yes! Tucker did have a spare.
Panel Three
The Baroness under the control of her adventurer, high occultist dead grand father notes the prehistoric man has found something. Alley did find another helmet with coaxial cable to plug in to that other plug hole. Now Alley can get started while the ectoplasmic shadowed woman watches the proceedings.

The Glarbs have just started filling in the grave when amazingly, Gritzel seems to have a change of heart!
“Clear the dirt off and bring him up!”
To Ooola’s utter joy and relief she sees them bringing up Alley and opening the lid.
“Oh, thank God! Thank God!”
Grizel says something to Jeffrey and he disappears for a moment, then returns with what looks like a rectangular metal box with an air tight lid.
The guards lift Alley, still motionless, out of the crate.
“Put him in here instead, “ orders Gritzel, “and without the axe. And make sure it’s locked and sealed.”
To Ooola’s horror she watches as Alley is now placed in an air tight metal coffin, without his axe.
And now Alley, sealed within his new coffin, is lowered once again to the bottom of his ten foot grave.
Seeing Alley now buried alive for the second time, Ooola can take no more and faints in utter grief and despair.
Lola is crying too. As are the rest of Alley’s few friends, amongst the thousands of cheering Glarbs.
The dirt is shoveled back on top until the grave is filled.
Two guards then use compactors to pack the soil as tight as it can be.
And this time, there is no order from Gritzel to bring it back up.
And there Alley remains, in a sealed metal coffin.
Unconscious, barely alive, at the bottom of a ten foot grave, on the hostile planet of Glarb, with very little air left.

Good morning Benders and all. A nice touch to have Alley see Ooola before the big games starts But I thought that when Ooola was taken to the temple, they walked quite a distance to get there. Or is this a different ballfield?

Ah yes, we all have our limits of permissible/acceptable inconsistency…even in a suspended reality comic.

@Firebrand2
You just made some unwarranted assumptions. If you look at a map of Chichen Itza, it’s apparent (to me, at least) that Ooola was led around the perimeter of the ball court, and arrived at the lower temple entrance, on the other side of the court. She, and the priest climbed the stairs, to the upper level of the temple, which overlooks the ball court. Check out the layout map at this site: http://www.world-mysteries.com/chichen_index.htm
