Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 15 “House of the Worm”(18) 8/18/12
While Alley and company explore just a small sample of what the House of the Worm has to offer the second Earth 2 expedition is making some headway. A base camp “TexCom Prime” has been set up and more equipment has been brought through including a D-44 utililty helicopter for some areil reconnoiter. Using also some of the latest in drones and that hybrid blue-purple eagle to also do some reconnaissance already. Linked to a mobile unit to monitor the transmissions. All TexCom personnel are in beige and brown uniforms with the blue and silver TexCom logo. The military ones are in armor, carry heavier arms, armed guard robot and the star symbol has crossed rifles over the silver or white star logo on their shoulders.
Dr. Wonmug wanted them to bring “non-lethal” devices with them so that no one would be hurt by their interference on this other Earth. The US military and some of the civilian scientists do not trust the corporate soldiers and their scientists so a tension is there all around all the time. (Not good for unit cohesion either.)
Panel One
Back in Maine on Earth One, the three investigators move back to the spacious house of fear. In Moo Wizer (and the Other) are becoming a messiah to the tribe and citizens of Moo with his levitations and healings throughout. Even King Guzzle is taken in by it. When Alley gets back to Moo it will be a very different place to him.
Panel Two
It is about four o’clock and the day is winding down but the heat and humidity is hard to take. Even for Alley Oop in those clothes he just wanted to literally rip them off his body. But he does take off the coat and shoes. He likes his horny wide feet to have close contact with the surfaces he walks on.
Panel Three
However once out of the sun the cooling unit from one of the major conglomerates, one of the latest (and expensive) “smart” cooling and heating units, do the job in climate control to a house over 400 years old. Outside the machine has the green seal of approval by Mr. Kimball. The others all feel a certain change from outside wholly separate from the climate. One that intensifies when they all crossed the threshold.
Panel Four
“How about something to eat?” Alley piped up. Lavainge and Tucker looked at him. “Yes, I think it would be a marvelous idea.” So said the world explorer and paranomalist. Lavainge agreed. There was also noises coming from the walls. Like scurrying or slithering. Rats? Not likely.
After tomorrow I won’t be able to post till sometime Monday. I’ll be staying with one of my brothers to prepare for a colonoscopy. Early Monday morning at 6:30 AM. I won’t have access to my writing though I will work on those days and just publish them two at a time if need be.
Ooola’s dialog – “Please forgive me.” Oh, please! She’s been kidnapped! And she says to her kidnapper, “Please forgive me?!” The Ooola I’ve known and loved since the 50’s would kick his royal be-hind!
Gee, I can’t wait to see what spin the Firebrand Twins put on this crap! This strip is like watching a train wreck, you see it coming and are helpless. Let us hope this is the last story arc from these two lame ‘professionals’. (I, for one, wonder why they get paid for this dribble) throws a nut
Not to put too fine a point on it but, if that is a Mayan Priest, especially of the Jaguar cult, than I’m a virgin! That “Priest” looks like a cross between an Egyptian Pharaoh, a really aggressive underwear salesman and a Turkish fakir!
Good morning Benders and all Ooola is smart not to rile Yochi any more I’m not so sure I agree that she doesn’t need to worry. Resting for a week while Alley learns Pitz should make her strong enough to get away Firebrand 1 and I are not twins – I’m much cuter
