    Comic time/real time = 1/ 10 on average or worse. Beatle Baily never got promoted.

    “O. L. and his investors want to set up …” not " … wanted to set up … " and … "The whole place is filthy … " not “The whole place was filthy …”

    nottawasaga, radarwise and tigershark … instead of commenting on the comments … try pointing out why you think the Benders are doing a great job? … and, when you see my avatar? Don’t read my posts … that way, you will have a good day.

    I agree with APOI, if you don’t like the comments don’t read them. Luann usually has 50 to 60 comments, I don’t read them. I had never heard of this strip untill about 11 years ago, it was in the local paper. I moved, no longer in my paper, forget when I found it here. It’s always had a slow moving storyline but this arc has just been ridiculous. I guess I’m still hoping something interesting will happen. I’ve stopped reading Gasoline Alley until the current stupid arc is over but I keep hoping Oop will improve.

    Why is doc acting like there wasn’t going to be a return trip? Even if he didn’t know about the oil deal, the discovery of a second earthlike planet in our solar system never be a one shot trip.

    One of the changes I notice from when Hamlin wrote Alley Oop is the ironies in the story line. Alley used to travel through time on missions to find out about the past. More often then not he would causes changes in the past that resulted in history being the way it actually happened. Often the day would end with a cliff hanger that made the reader excited about seeing the next day’s installment to find out what happened next. As others have noted, now if you read once a week you don’t miss a thing. I still enjoy reading my favorite comic, but it is not up to the standard of the past.

    Because OL underwrote the trip with money he didn’t have and he is now in jail. Doc knows that but the astronauts don’t.

    I can’t even watch the Sunday strips because my dialup can’t handle it. High speed not available.

    @Kathy Mc

    you really can’t tell me what to read or not to read. that’s nonsense. it’s like saying if you don’t like politicians don’t ever vote. duh
    it’s not that i don’t like this comic— i don’t like what the benders are doing to it in terms of mediocre to bad artwork, plots, and continuity. Those of us who criticize this classic strip want to see it return to its former glory — in effect we are a constructively voting for a change.
