… probably not a bad idea… in today’s schools. :(

My junior year of high school saw no less than four bomb threats over the course of a month.

11+ years later? It and the main junior high saw something to the effect of 12 over a one-month period.
[]
Yeah.

Darren, we had a bomb scare at a local elementary school yesterday. Nothing happened, everyone’s fine. Seems the tip they got was a mean prank.

Back when I was in high school, there was one critical lesson that we students had to learn if we wanted to survive:
[]
“In the event of a crisis situation, you are on your own. Do not expect the faculty or staff to come to your assistance; presume that every faculty member who is actually competent is too busy picking up the slack for those faculty members that are incompetent.”
[]
Yeah. The head principal was incompetent, at least one of the campus cops was a substance abuser, and several individual teachers had no business being there. Between them they managed to generate a field of apathy that filtered down to most of the student body.
