Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Female chauvinism begins early, I see.
But that’s allowed, it seems.

She’d get on fine with Danae from Non Sequitor.

Preadolescent flirting comes in many guises.
Sometimes it’s very hard to recognise.
If you think she hates Bob….
you never had your shoelaces tied together by your 3rd grade crush.

I posted these links yesterday but not many came back so late….
In response to those asking about seeing Agnes’ teacher…
I had a couple of sightings bookmarked cos I once linked to several, during a similar discussion….
Right now, these two are all I can find, but I remember a more recent one….
Not being a regular character, she seems to be drawn differently each time…. artistic license.
Agnes’ teacher Sept 2011
Agnes’ teacher in Nov that year

@SusanSunshine
One would expect Agnes to go through a number of teachers.

Apparently, Agnes’ hormones haven’t kicked in yet.

Some of my best friends are drunk raccoons.

And you think your manners are better Agnes? Maybe those of a sober raccoon?

She may have dyed her hair or it is a different class.

How can anyone tell when she smiles?

David HG and Night-Gaunt….
You’re right…
it might not BE the same teacher, or maybe she dyed her hair….
Agnes is only in middle school, so probably has the same teacher all day… except for gym class or maybe music, or art.
I was just expressing proactive support for Tony, if there are continuity nitpickers and he chooses to ignore them.
Hoping to help divert the incomprehensible entitlement some readers feel…
those who demand art on their own terms…
unpaid, but daily….
with never a spelling, grammar or history mistake…
with complete scientific knowledge, and perfect memory and continuity..
when the cartoonist is just trying to make a joke.
And at that, Tony’s one of the best.

Agnes has described to a T – the male creature caught up in the frenzy of his favourite sport and/or sports team.
