I can’t explore much. Since I don’t fly, by the time I get there I have to go back.

    I don’t fly either.
    I have to use airplanes.

As usual, Trout is essentially correct.

On the other hand, the people you meet along the way are invariably interesting.

The people where I live talk funny, and you can’t understand them.

Since I had so many near-earth experiences in the military, if someone wants me to get onto an aircraft AGAIN, it’ll have to fly at 4,000 feet, ’cuz the rubber seal around the door will be in my vise-like grip!!

The world outside of her little sphere is enough for her.

“I have traveled quite extensively, in Concord.”
    - Henry David Thoreau

Without going out of my door,
I can know all things on earth.
Without looking out of my window,
I can know the ways of heaven.
    The farther one travels
    The less one knows,
    The less one really knows.

    - George Harrison

My personal aircraft is invisible and I forgot where I parked. So I dont fly. As to people talking funny…..they talk funny everywhere! But the food, though strange looking – tastes great

George Harrison and HDT in the same breath? Someone is turning over in his grave, and it ain’t a Beatles member.

You think maybe Thoreau would have preferred Ringo?

Or do you just have some idea that the transcendentalists of the early 1800’s would have found nothing of interest in the counterculture of the 1960’s? If nothing else, Thoreau was a famous tax resister, and he’d likely have applauded “Taxman.”

Thoreau also had a keen interest in Eastern religion and philosophy, praising the Bhagavad-Gita, and comparing Walden Pond to Mother Ganges.

Tune in, turn on, drop out, man. Harrison and Thoreau might well have gotten along famously.
