Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Agnes is a monkey show!

Don’t think sainthood as a hobby has ever caught on, Agnes. It’s like sort of a byproduct of other stuff.

Yeah…. no fun to have to be good all the time.
Maybe she could aim for eventually being, like, say, 23% canonised.
That leaves 77% of her time for work and play.

Well, there’s actually a city named after him, San-toad Domingo.

Agnes doesn’t know is that you don’t work for Sainthood. And it is bestowed posthumously.

@Night-Gaunt49
It is recognized posthumously.

and that’s only under one peculiar religious sect. Others believe any who have accepted the saving grace of Christ are instantly set aside and made holy, which is to say saints, as scripture says they are.
-
Others reject the entire concept of sainthood.
-
(This is only because they have never met St. Agnes
and St. Trout and Saint Grandma and Saint Principal.)

Hmmmm…. upon further consideration, the character I nominate for sainthood is Agnes’ long-suffering dog.
She has one, she doesn’t…
she leaves him for months with the vet…
from whom she recently(-ish) negotiated his return at a greatly reduced fee…
And we haven’t seen him since.
If he’s fed, walked and petted on a similar schedule, and hasn’t eaten Agnes or Grandma…
he has the proverbial patience of Job….
Even MY saint-less tribes might consider canonization.
