Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

If you go through life with a smile as your umbrella, you’re going to get very wet if it rain s.

Hard to pull off gags about facial expressions for a face that has none. About the only thing that ever changes on Agnes are the eyebrows.

I have to admit to being amazed at how many expressions Tony gets for Agnes with so few lines. There are little eyebrows; and she sweats when she’s frazzled. Plus she can look annoyed with her hands on her hips—yes she has both. But I think a smirk is beyond current technology.
-———It’s also interesting how some conventions work their ways into everyday life. If you fold towels lengthwise in half, they’re hard to fit in normal linen closets. But if you fold them lengthwise in thirds, they fit fine.

-——————————-I didn’t know that! Darn it, now I need to test it out. Another day’s productivity down the tubes…

Very hard to see all of Agnes’ facial expressions so look carefully.

I tried letting a smile be my umbrella. All I got was a mouthful of rain.

True. Linus Van Pelt found that out in a Peanuts strip.

planning smirks is one thing, but doing the Mona Lisa smile will drive everyone around you…crazy!
.
I do that 3-fold thingie only with the very large bath towels. The rest of the towels square off nicely.

But if your mouth is big enough, the rest of you stays dry and you aren’t thirsty.
