Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Agnes has been to the principal so many times she’s probably worn two large foot impressions on the floor.

You know. on some level Agnes is onto something. There are only a finite number of stories out there— though exactly how many is anyone’s guess. What mostly distinguishes them is the framework in which they occur and the feelings the author manages to create in readers for the characters.
