Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

At least it wasn’t hair remover as was seen on a recent Dr. Drew show.

Wrap a white cloth around the rest of your head and tell everyone you are a chef.

Maybe it was Granny Aardvark, who needed an excuse to shave Agnes’ head.

Agnes, having romance with Elvis pillow?

That’s gotta be Grandma’s pillow…

@RubyRedRing ...
Don’t think so. She and the pillow couldn’t possibly have gone on together with suspicious minds.

I think it was probably bought by Granny at a garage sale in an attempt to keep Agnes sort of up to date. It always amazes me how little parents (and yes, grandparents) know about the contemporary culture of a child’s world. Especially when it can change several times before they catch up with the original starting point.

She could wrap her head and pillow in a turban and let people wonder if she were a Sikh.

Nah, probably safer to stick with just the pillow.
