Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Agnes is one delightfully screwed-up little kid, but she’s right on this. Volunteerism is just the make-up on the ugly face of self-sacrifice.
(This will be misunderstood and probably get me attacked, but that’s what I expect from self-righteous people who want you to live your lives for anyone but yourself. Remember, I’m the one who’s on YOUR side here.)

I never go out of my way to volunteer, it just happens to me.
I recognize that there is a power in this universe greater than myself.
My spirit is open to the will of That Spirit.
People in need cross my path often, and it usually costs me relatively little to help them out.
The sad thing is that we should have to encourage people to help others out.

pschearer,, you will NEVER be on my side!
You’re nothing but a self-centered troll who considers Ayn Rand to be God!

Well, pschearer, you got one attack. Better luck on some of your other posts. But if you are sincere in what you wrote here, I can understand some of your other posts much better now. I’m praying for you.

What a sad, lonely person you must be.

See? What did I tell you? Just like I said.
Amazing how uncharitable (complete with name-calling even!) some folks can be to someone about whom they no almost nothing.
As for Susan001, I doubt any facts or arguments could convince you how wrong you are about me and about Ayn Rand.
