I have a First Edition of ‘They Got Me Covered’ By Bob Hope. 1940 or 1941. And I got him to sign it, at a book signing for his last book, you had to buy that one, but I wanted it anyway.

Actually, most bookstores will buy books. COOP stores and libraries often accept donations of used books… depending on the type.

There are also websites where you can swap books with other people.

I was in a dollar store a couple of months ago and I found a display of copies of "Late Show ‘Fun Facts’ " by David Letterman and the “Late Show” writers. I opened up one copy and discovered it had been printed upside-down! (The book does not have a jacket.) Before bringing it to the checkout, I looked at all of the other copies to see if any more were like that, they were all normal. I wonder if this copy (yes, I bought it) could be worth much more than the dollar I paid for it? I understand that collectors pay mucho bucks for such errata.

Yeah, but when donating to the library, please don’t donate books with mold, spots, dampness, missing pages, marked pages, broken spines. Those books go straight to the dumpster. Also 30 year old textbooks really aren’t wanted by anybody.

I thought first editions were worth a lot, but probably not with that title.

But the “buzz” from opening a mould-spotted book (not in THAT sense) is not a bad thing. I have a very old, mould spotted book (Mrs Gaskill’s “Sylvia’s Lovers”) that I keep separate from all my others.
