One joke on a shallow theme is ok. Two is acceptable (if you got a really good follow up). Anything after that and you’ve got a 95% chance you’re just beating a dead horse. Jim Davis is bad for this too. At least put in an evolving story, like his wife strangling him to stop the coffee songs.

I love Adam@Home, but Basset has a tendency to focus on a theme like this and go on and on into tedium.

That may be true; I could tell you some alcohol jokes you would probably not understand, but I would not try, much less make you listen to them all week. I got help; Adam needs to also.
