The Academia Waltz was Berke Breathed's first cartoon, published daily from 1978 to 1979 in The Daily Texan at The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a student. The strip focused primarily on college life, although it sometimes made references to big news stories of the time (such as the incident at Three Mile Island in 1979).

My son’s a patent attorney, I love him dearly, but, $900/hr ($15/min, and he’s one of many in the firm and he’s the least expensive)for his time? Someone has to pay. Eventually these costs find there way down to us little people on the street and guess who pays?

No matter how outrageous those prices are – and I agree with you – they aren’t illegal under any law of which I am aware. Capitalism dictates that, in order for the price of patent attorneys to drop, there either have to be more of them or there has to be less work for them. Either way, you’ll see patent attorneys drop their prices; the really good ones or those entrenched in an area will continue to make more while the new ones or the less talented ones will make less. Now, in the area of litigation … maybe we can default to loser pays both side’s fees, and we’ll see less suing.
