Solar power. Available in the 70’s. How much oil/coal/NUKE power could we have saved if we’d really pushed it then?

As they say, the devil is in the details. Solar sounds great at first, but it’s much more expensive to produce electricity using solar technology than by using conventional means. Most solar power applications are for places where it would be more expensive to run the wires. Eventually, most electricity will be produced locally, but the technology is not yet ready for general use.

It’s quickly getting there. We could have gotten there sooner if it had been pushed more, as el_flesh said.

It wasn’t pushed because it doesn’t work well. The same for wind. If it were financially viable, it would be wide spread.

Everyone that loves solar ignores the massive pollution that takes place mining and refining the materials that go into making them. Since it happens in China and affects the Chinese people they don’t care. Same with wind turbines. China doesn’t care about poisoning the water and land.

The traditional Japanese shout when charging into battle is usually rendered into English as “Banzai” (“10,000 years”).
Tiny trees are “bonsai.”
“Bonzai” looks like a hybrid of these two.

Not as massive as what digging out and burning of oil, coal and nuclear energy does. Not even close.

We should do what all lefties want us to do: Live in caves and live by the light of hand-dipped candles made from free-range honey bee wax.
Of course, the lefties will still be living in their mansions burning all of the fuel the rest leave behind. (do as i say, not as i do)

If you take all the Carbon where its been locked away for millions of years and finally return it to the atmosphere, what do you THINK will happen??
There has to be a better way to produce energy.
