The Academia Waltz was Berke Breathed's first cartoon, published daily from 1978 to 1979 in The Daily Texan at The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a student. The strip focused primarily on college life, although it sometimes made references to big news stories of the time (such as the incident at Three Mile Island in 1979).

Yep, you’ve latched onto xenophobia and mob mentality.

You find someone with those attitudes, and he never would have made it out of the interview. I know it’s meant to be funny, but as a serviceman I am sick and tired of us being portrayed like this.

The scariest thing about this comic is how little has really changed in all these years.
There are still people who would say this.

yes, they’re out there , and they’re nervous, scared, frustrated and very, very dangerous.
all it takes to ruin everything is one person willing to give up his own life

Oh, my. I have never seen this strip. Just browsing today, but this one is a hot potato.
Is it always so pointed?
AddADadaAdDad said, 4 months ago
Yes, Jor-El, it is. From Breathed’s college days.

Bullwinkle & Charlie –
Will never happen (live together without this bitterness), too much finger pointing not enough tying to clean up the mess.
