That’s not necessrily a good thing, what with “Big Brother” using the Patriot Act as an excuse to check on us Verizon users. There are some people who have sworn off cell phones, afraid that they might cause physical issues with continuous use – Stephen King and his wife, Tabitha (the authors) are two of those, and his paranoia about it comes through in this book ‘The Cell’.

There is nothing new about data gathering from phones. They started using it on land lines a long time ago. Certain words usually either relating to drugs or terrorist activities were programed to toss a flag. It wasn’t greatly publicized for obvious reasons but it was there.
