No one in town -- neither the real estate developer nor the relatives -- was happy when Farmer Ray left everything to his beloved farm animals. So they fled in fear, leaving a spunky young girl named Pearl to battle for their rights. Now the farm is theirs, but neither Pearl, nor the Wise Crow, nor the Weird Rabbits, can find them. Join the intrepid trio as they adventure their way across the land, seeking wide and far for their long lost home sweet home.

Why do ice cream trucks always seem to play “Turkey in the straw”? Rarely do I hear another song.

I didn’t know that the cows and chicken were allied with the Rodent Revolution.

Pearl is really smart. Brave and lovely too. Definate leadership material if she makes it past puberty.

Better put out those torches first or the ice cream will melt.

The Village Idiot? Was he one of those “Village People”?

“The ice cream truck in my neighborhood plays ‘Helter Skelter’.” -Steven Wright
I was in England in 1985-1986 and saw Steven Wright perform on ‘Saturday Live’ a British variety show. His jokes BOMBED! It was so bad that they had to start a laugh track!

One nice thing about the paletas push carts here in California… no “Turkey in the Straw,” just the bells on the cart. I was in a RPG campaign one summer where after a few weeks, we all started getting collectively tense about the same time. Within minutes, the ice cream truck would go by. Random jokes got made about bazookas and other armaments (it was a science fiction-based game, after all), and then we’d all relax and move on. Their version of “Turkey” was tinnier than any I’ve heard before or since.

The ice cream truck in my neighborhood plays “The Entertainer.” Still tinny, but at least not Turkey in the Straw.

I am a little freaked. Both Ed McMahon and Michael Jackson have had appearances in this strip over the last 6 months.

sskelton, I understand the feeling. Just one question: did Farah Fawcett sneak in too?
Hey, it could be worse, Tribesmen. “I Dream of Jeanie”, an old movie about Stephen Foster, began with Stephen’s fiancee being about driven out of her gourd by “Oh, Susanna”, which was making the rounds all over the country (even on paddleboat whistles).
