No one in town -- neither the real estate developer nor the relatives -- was happy when Farmer Ray left everything to his beloved farm animals. So they fled in fear, leaving a spunky young girl named Pearl to battle for their rights. Now the farm is theirs, but neither Pearl, nor the Wise Crow, nor the Weird Rabbits, can find them. Join the intrepid trio as they adventure their way across the land, seeking wide and far for their long lost home sweet home.

Warren, here’s why I decided to do it this way…… There’s so little space to work with, if I had the speech balloon belonging to the chicken, it would go right through the rabbit holding the basket and the other speech balloons. If I switched the position of the cow and the chicken, then the cow would obstruct the view of the rabbits. Basically, I wanted to add the phones to make it clear they were visiting the cows in jail. Doing a comic with this detail and dialogue in such a small space requires a little wiggle room.

Well, ok, Mr. Skelton—apology accepted. But can you explain how come these here animals can talk??

Well, actually, mistakes do get made, so I appreciate the feedback. I draw most all dailies in a single day, often doing the writing as I go, so it is pretty crazy!
grazer, funny you should ask. It was revealed in some earlier strips that only children can understand 2 cows and a chicken. To adults, it’s just moo and cluck cluck. The reason for this will be revealed at some point, (but it is similar to the dog in the new movie “Up”)

Steve– No questions asked from me about why chickens and cows talk. Suspension of disbelief is a wonderful thing. Although it took a sharp eye to even notice the phone thing. I don’t always catch the details. I’m too busy laughing!
Simple things- simple minds- bliss.

Looking forward to the revelation, Steve. I’m sure you caught the wink behind my question. A better question might’ve been: Why can I understand what these animals are saying??
;D

Can’t you tell, grazer? From his own self-portrait, sskelton is a chicken himself, and he’s translating for us. :)
How a chicken is able to translate, I have no idea.
